Job Overview

The Material Handler supports the Stores Supervisor in the safe and efficient management and storage of raw materials, packaging, and finished products. This role strictly follows the Dangerous Goods (DG) code of Australia to ensure timely and safe delivery of products to internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to workplace safety policies and procedures, including maintaining hygiene and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with the Stores Supervisor to pick customer orders and prepare shipments for delivery or containers.
  • Assist with wrapping and strapping finished goods and storing them safely in compliance with DG regulations.
  • Help load delivery trucks and containers efficiently and safely.
  • Support off-loading operations by verifying quantities and signing delivery receipts at the receiving location.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of warehouse store areas, DG bunkers, and yard.
  • Participate in stock audits as directed by management.
  • Attend safety meetings and programs aimed at improving company efficiency and workplace safety.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years' experience handling DG goods and loading containers in a warehousing environment.
  • Mandatory certification in Dangerous Goods warehousing.
  • Maritime General Awareness and Function-specific certifications are preferred.
  • Possession of a valid forklift license.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with accuracy in order processing and picking.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work takes place in warehouse environments where temperatures can be extreme.
  • Exposure to lead environments.
  • Physical manual handling up to 25 kilograms is required.
