Job description

About ÚCHÈ

ÚCHÈ is a pioneering ready-to-wear fashion label established by Nigerian designer Uche Joy Orah and headquartered in Dubai. Drawing inspiration from the Igbo term meaning “idea,” this brand specializes in gender-neutral, innovative, and conceptual apparel presented in limited editions to preserve exclusivity. Since debuting its first capsule collection in 2019, ÚCHÈ has earned international acclaim, including features in publications like L'Officiel Belgium. The company values sustainability and creativity, inviting passionate professionals to contribute to its progressive fashion narrative.

Role Overview

The Master Pattern Maker is a full-time, onsite position stationed in Dubai, charged with the critical task of converting design ideas into precise patterns that uphold ÚCHÈ's unique style and fit. Daily duties involve crafting and refining patterns for new collections, supervising fittings, and collaborating with designers, sample artisans, and production teams to ensure product quality and adherence to sustainability standards.

This role requires the creation of patterns manually and through computer-aided design (CAD) software, providing technical direction on sewing and assembly techniques, alongside resolving fit or construction complications during sampling and production phases. Additionally, the Master Pattern Maker manages pattern archives, assists in grading for diverse sizes, and engages in ongoing enhancement of manufacturing workflows.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Expertise in pattern making and design for sophisticated, avant-garde garments catering to both men's and women's fashion.
  • Advanced fitting skills to optimize garment fit, drape, and comfort across multiple sizes.
  • Strong sewing knowledge to comprehend construction processes and guide sample and production teams effectively.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools for digital pattern creation, editing, and grading processes.
  • Substantial experience in pattern making, ideally within luxury ready-to-wear or conceptual fashion sectors, supported by an impressive portfolio.
  • Comprehensive understanding of garment construction, fabric types, and sustainable production practices.
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving skill set, and ability to collaborate efficiently in a dynamic studio and production setting.
  • Availability to work onsite in Dubai coupled with advanced formal education in fashion design and pattern making.
