Role Overview

The Master Paint Technician is tasked with expertly preparing and refinishing automotive surfaces. Responsibilities include applying body filler, sanding, priming, and painting according to manufacturer repair standards. The technician ensures repair quality and durability meet required specifications and strictly adheres to safety protocols. This position plays an essential role in delivering high-quality car painting services that comply with dealer standards, incorporating problem-solving skills and efficient use of tools and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare car surfaces with body filler application and sanding to make them ready for painting.
• Apply primer and paint following manufacturers' repair instructions and specifications.
• Perform machine compounding and polishing procedures to restore the finish on older vehicles per final inspection feedback.
• Ensure vehicle repairs meet quality and durability benchmarks set by manufacturers.
• Analyze and address issues flagged in repeat repairs and inspection reports to prevent recurrence.
• Follow all safety guidelines during paint application tasks.
• Utilize protective gear such as respirators and appropriate clothing to maintain safety standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools and work areas.
• Engage in team safety briefings and training programs.
• Report safety incidents promptly to supervisors and participate in required safety education.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• In-depth understanding of paint mixing technologies and application techniques.
• Competence with sanding, painting tools, and associated equipment.
• Strong commitment to quality assurance and workplace safety standards.
• Ability to follow manufacturer guidelines and standard operational procedures accurately.
• Experience of 2 to 3 years working in a vehicle paint shop environment.
• Educational background includes a High School diploma and completion of an ITI course in Automobile Engineering specializing in car body painting and refinishing.
• Skilled in surface preparation, priming, painting, rubbing, and polishing activities.
• Proficient in operating conventional paint spray machinery and willing to embrace advanced painting technologies.
• Experienced in using compounding and polishing machines to achieve premium finishes.
