Job description

About the Team

OpenAI is dedicated to fostering the responsible and broad use of artificial intelligence. The Marketing team plays a crucial role in gaining deep insights into customer segments and market trends, guiding the creation of fitting products, establishing sustainable revenue models that align with customers, and driving brand awareness and product usage across OpenAI’s portfolio.

Our approach relies heavily on data to analyze markets, design monetization strategies, and identify customer demands to inform product development and messaging. Collaboration across Sales, Partnerships, Product, Engineering, Research, Communications, and Design ensures a unified customer journey and successful launch strategies for new products.

About the Role

We are seeking a Marketing Scientist to join OpenAI’s Ads Marketing Science group. Reporting directly to the Marketing Science leadership team, you will serve as an experienced individual contributor who blends in-depth measurement knowledge with practical client insights and active involvement.

Your goal is to validate and enhance advertisers’ media effectiveness on OpenAI Ads. This involves working alongside sales, partners, and clients to support various measurement methodologies including verification, attribution, incrementality, brand analysis, marketing mix modeling (MMM), and scalable advertiser reporting—linking robust analysis to actionable advertiser decisions.

You will collaborate closely with Sales on major advertising accounts as well as with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Partnerships, Legal, and Privacy teams. Early efforts will focus on advancing techniques for incrementality measurement, onboarding measurement partners into privacy-conscious workflows and integrations, and creating reusable assets like programs, tools, agents, and workflows that empower sales and clients to access top-tier Marketing Science support at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sales teams, advertisers, and agencies to develop learning plans, interpret analytical outcomes, and drive media performance improvements.
  • Implement rigorous advertising measurement techniques spanning attribution, incrementality, marketing mix modeling, and other sophisticated methodologies.
  • Create scalable measurement frameworks and guidance aimed at improving decision-making and encouraging widespread adoption of precise measurement practices.
  • Design advertiser-facing insight delivery systems that transform campaign and audience data into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Analyze auction dynamics to uncover optimization possibilities related to ad delivery, pricing, and effectiveness, enhancing advertiser results.
  • Present complex measurement concepts in an accessible manner while maintaining strict standards of privacy, accuracy, transparency, and responsible data interpretation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Extensive expertise (over 10 years) in advertising measurement including experimentation, incremental testing, attribution, and econometric models such as marketing mix modeling.
  • Experienced hands-on practitioner proficient with large datasets using SQL, Python or R, and employing AI-powered analytical processes, maintaining rigor and sound judgment.
  • Trusted advisor to clients who can adeptly handle advanced measurement inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in designing and executing lift and incrementality studies including experiment formulation, statistical power assessments, governance, diagnostics, and quality assurance standards.
  • Knowledge of third-party measurement vendors, integrating partners through APIs or data interfaces, and translating partner technical needs into actionable product specifications.
  • Effective collaborator with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to convert measurement methodologies into scalable software tools, reporting solutions, and platform features.
  • Ability to distill complex statistical principles into practical guidance for audiences both with and without technical backgrounds.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic, ambiguous settings and influencing multiple teams without formal authority.
  • Strong commitment to privacy-respecting and trustworthy measurement practices that enable advertisers to understand, demonstrate, and enhance the impact of their media investments.

Location and Work Schedule

This position is based in London and requires a hybrid working schedule, with onsite presence from Monday to Wednesday.
