Since launching a mobile app in Senegal in 2017 for cash deposits, withdrawals, and payments, Wave has expanded to millions of users across nine countries, including The Gambia.
Role Overview
The Marketing Manager based in The Gambia will play a crucial role in executing marketing strategies that enhance Wave’s market presence and customer engagement. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, this role requires end-to-end ownership of marketing campaigns and initiatives, strong planning, project management, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement marketing strategies that support business objectives.
- Lead the planning and execution of major marketing campaigns.
- Identify and leverage opportunities to improve customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
- Ensure marketing activities are customer-focused and meet market needs.
- Manage marketing projects independently, overseeing timely delivery and risk management.
- Maintain project timelines, coordinate with internal teams and external partners to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Prepare clear briefs for creative teams and agencies and actively participate in creative reviews to enhance campaign impact.
- Ensure all marketing materials adhere to brand standards and messaging guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Payments, Business Development, Sales, Product Marketing, and Support.
- Produce marketing project reports for internal stakeholders.
- Manage vendor and agency relationships to ensure quality execution.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of marketing experience with a demonstrated ability to combine analytical and strategic work.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis and business intelligence tools to interpret marketing data and derive evidence-based insights.
- Experience designing and managing market research projects including agency selection and insight synthesis.
- Track record in developing and managing sponsorship or brand partnership portfolios, including negotiation and impact measurement.
- Understanding of ATL and BTL marketing value extraction from sponsorships with focus on media visibility and audience engagement.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and complex organizational settings, collaborating with global and local teams.
- Excellent project management capabilities handling multiple simultaneous tasks reliably.
- Strong storytelling and communication skills to present data-driven insights clearly and persuasively.
- Experience managing relationships with external agencies and research providers.
- Fluency in both French and English is mandatory.
