Role Overview and Responsibilities

The Marketing Actuary will leverage strong commercial pricing and portfolio analytics expertise across life insurance products. This pragmatic, inquisitive role involves influencing senior internal and external stakeholders to enhance profitable sales growth on the NEOS Platform through improved market insights, pricing strategies, and retention analytics.

  • Contribute to the design, pricing, and sustained management of both direct and partner life insurance products.
  • Conduct market trend analysis, competitor evaluation, and customer behavior studies to pinpoint growth opportunities.
  • Create and refine pricing frameworks including elasticity studies and value-creation analysis for both new and in-force products.
  • Lead or assist in analyses of lapses, retention, conversion rates, and sales performance to optimize portfolio outcomes.
  • Prepare business cases supporting product modifications, technology advancements, and automation projects.
  • Support negotiations with insurers and reinsurers by providing data-backed recommendations.
  • Assist with monitoring, reporting, and governance of Design and Distribution Obligations (DDO) across retail and direct products.
  • Collaborate extensively across product, underwriting, finance, claims, and marketing teams to enhance profitability and customer experience.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (FIAA) or a comparable actuarial qualification is preferred.
  • At least six years of experience in life insurance, ideally encompassing pricing, product development, marketing actuarial, or commercial roles.
  • Strong commercial acumen, able to balance business growth, profitability, and regulatory governance.
  • Comfortable conducting market analysis, portfolio monitoring, and delivering succinct recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience in pricing, product development, reinsurance, lapse analysis, or direct insurance sectors is valued.
  • Skilled at navigating commercial discussions, managing partnerships, and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Adept at translating complex actuarial and pricing concepts to diverse audiences including marketing, distribution teams, executives, and partners.
  • Builds meaningful relationships with insurers, reinsurers, and internal teams, and tactfully challenges assumptions when necessary to protect business or customer interests.

  • Pragmatic approach prioritizing actionable analysis over perfection, making decisive calls and driving execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and actuarial modelling; familiarity with Python, SQL, or automation tools is advantageous.
  • Experienced in practical uses of AI and emerging technologies to enhance work efficiency.
  • Capability to understand and apply AI tools for workflow automation and improved productivity.
  • Utilizes AI resources to support decision-making and boost overall operational performance.
