Role Overview

As the Market Data Lead, you will spearhead the establishment and development of the market data function integral to Binance's Traditional Finance (TradFi) expansion. Your responsibilities encompass strategizing, sourcing, licensing, and integrating critical exchange and vendor data — covering real-time streams, reference datasets, and historical information. Collaborative engagement with product teams, engineering, legal, finance, and international vendors and exchanges is essential to construct a robust data infrastructure that supports the launch and scaling of TradFi initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and own the comprehensive market data strategy and roadmap specific to the TradFi program, identifying and prioritizing necessary exchange and vendor data.
• Lead vendor engagement including sourcing, contractual negotiations with exchanges, consolidators, and market data providers; manage licensing agreements, renewals, and overall budget.
• Oversee full-cycle data integration with engineering teams, encompassing feed onboarding, normalization, symbology, reference data management, corporate actions, and data distribution to trading and client interfaces.
• Implement governance mechanisms across the data lifecycle, including entitlement controls, data quality assurance, lineage tracking, and ensuring compliance with exchange policies and auditing standards.
• Collaborate effectively with product, legal, and compliance departments to manage licensing and redistribution as TradFi products extend to new markets and asset classes.
• Monitor the evolving market data landscape continuously for new vendors, sources, partnership opportunities, and pricing models to maintain a cost-effective and cutting-edge data stack.
• Build and lead a growing market data team, establishing routines and collaboration with product and engineering units.
• Serve as the internal authority on TradFi market data and market structure, facilitating understanding of exchange and vendor conventions among crypto-focused teams.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Between 6 and 10 years of experience in market data or trading technology, preferably within a global brokerage, exchange, fintech, or market data vendor environment, demonstrating success in establishing or scaling market data functions for trading platforms.
• Extensive knowledge of the market data ecosystem, including exchange data feeds, vendor solutions, licensing models, entitlements, and audit/compliance procedures.
• Practical experience in sourcing and integrating market data for one or more Traditional Finance asset classes such as equities, derivatives, commodities, fixed income, FX, or indices and across multiple regions.
• Strong grasp of market data technologies and reference data concepts, including feed protocols, data normalization, symbology standards, corporate actions, and time-series data distribution.
• Proven commercial acumen with skills in negotiation, vendor management, and budget ownership.
• Demonstrated ability in managing stakeholders across various departments—product, engineering, legal, and finance—and fluently handling both technical and commercial discussions.
• Ability to thrive while building new functions from the ground up in fast-paced, high-velocity environments.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience setting up market data capabilities at brokerages launching new asset categories or entering new geographic markets.
• Comprehensive understanding of market data environments and exchange policies across APAC, US, and Europe.
• Technical proficiency including SQL and Python, with familiarity in feed protocols and data architectures.
• Prior exposure to market data and trading products.
