Position Overview
Our client, a prominent regional bank, is seeking a Managing Director for Group Credit to spearhead their credit strategy and enhance risk management practices. This pivotal leadership role involves shaping credit policies, fostering portfolio growth, and establishing a robust risk management framework for various lending activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement the bank’s comprehensive credit strategy in line with its business goals.
- Lead a global team, promoting a culture focused on high performance and risk awareness.
- Manage all facets of credit risk management including maintaining underwriting standards, monitoring portfolio quality, and overseeing credit review procedures.
- Adopt sophisticated credit analytics and risk evaluation models to improve decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with business units to develop credit products that encourage responsible growth across retail, SME, and corporate sectors.
- Engage closely with regulators to ensure adherence to all credit regulations and policies.
- Provide regular reports to the executive committee and Board concerning credit risk exposure and portfolio health.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive leadership experience in credit within the banking industry, with in-depth knowledge of Central and Eastern European markets.
- Proven background in corporate and wholesale banking.
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a comparable discipline.
- A professional background spanning 15 to 20 years within credit functions, including a decade or more in senior leadership roles at top-tier banks.
- Expertise in credit risk management, regulatory compliance, and portfolio strategic planning.
- Strong analytical abilities paired with excellent leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A history of successfully establishing and expanding credit operations in complex environments.
