About the Role
This is a permanent full-time position based in Toronto, ON at Deloitte with a hybrid work model. Deloitte is a 100% Canadian-owned professional services firm dedicated to positively impacting society and supporting the growth of its people and clients. The US Tax group advises clients on all aspects related to cross-border tax issues, including corporate structuring, acquisition strategies, compliance, planning to minimize tax liabilities, and outbound investment structuring primarily into Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on US Tax for cross-border transactions including investment structuring and expansion into the US market.
- Guide and assist in due diligence processes related to acquisitions of US entities or assets.
- Support US compliance matters such as federal, state, and local tax returns and audit defense.
- Offer planning strategies to minimize US permanent establishment risks and effectively manage inadvertent establishments.
- Conduct nexus determinations and create tax planning strategies to optimize overall US tax liabilities.
- Prepare detailed tax returns and cross-border compliance filings.
- Collaborate with clients and tax authorities to address tax issues and perform technical research.
Candidate Profile
- Possess 5 to 7+ years of professional experience in US Tax.
- Hold an undergraduate degree; possession of CPA designation preferred.
- Able to analyze and interpret financial information and review US corporate income tax returns.
- Exemplify strong leadership capabilities to mentor and guide team members.
- Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and excellent teamwork skills.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
- An accounting background is considered an advantage.
- Display professional poise and represent Deloitte with maturity and professionalism.
