Since 1999, Magic Bus has been a pioneering organization dedicated to ending poverty by nurturing children and youth from childhood through to livelihood readiness. Operating across 23 states and several major cities in India, Magic Bus empowers young individuals to become self-reliant and confident, preparing them for employment or further education. The organization employs 1500 staff and engages over 8100 volunteers, reaching nearly 380,000 children. Regional headquarters are located in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, and Karnataka, with global fundraising offices abroad.
Role Overview
The Manager Training is responsible for enhancing the skills and capacities of trainers and staff within the assigned region supporting Magic Bus's Livelihood Programme. This role involves quality assurance through audits, mentoring trainers, assisting in the development of training material and evaluation tools, and implementing a measurement framework for training impact. The manager will lead training sessions in employability, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and life skills using innovative, experiential methods tailored to local needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build capabilities of trainers and staff through mentoring and regular handholding.
- Conduct audits and quality checks to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and program quality.
- Develop and update training manuals and monitoring tools in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Lead all regional training sessions and ensure effective delivery of the Livelihood programme.
- Create trainer retention strategies and growth plans.
- Innovate training methodologies by researching new learning models and refining curricula.
- Organize workshops and exposure programs to keep trainers updated on latest trends.
- Manage training timelines, monitor progress, and motivate trainers continuously.
- Establish strong working relationships with field staff and program implementers.
- Perform data collection, training effectiveness evaluation, and provide comprehensive reports on progress and challenges.
- Serve as a role model demonstrating qualities youth should emulate.
Desired Competencies
- Expertise in designing and delivering training on AI tools and related technologies.
- Experience in curriculum development reflecting advancements in youth skill training and job placement.
- Proficiency in multiple training delivery methods including virtual and self-paced modules.
- Competence in assessing training outcomes and offering targeted coaching to trainers.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in the development sector, including 3 years as a full-time Master Trainer for youth aged 18-25.
- Master's degree in Management, Social Work, or other social sciences.
- Preference for candidates with AI training experience within the social sector.
- Proven track record in delivering employability and life skills training and achieving youth development outcomes.
- Knowledge of life skills, 21st century skills, virtual training methods, and tech proficiency including online learning platforms and mobile apps.
Additional Information
The position reports directly to the GM – CWW Training, Livelihood and involves no direct staff management. Location options include Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore.
