We value rapid decision-making balanced with careful judgment, curiosity-driven inquiry, humility, collaboration, and initiative to complete projects end-to-end. The team embraces AI tools to enhance problem-solving and values tackling complex challenges alongside exceptional colleagues.
Team Overview
The CEO Office Strategy & Operations group collaborates directly with executive leadership on the company’s critical priorities. This team coordinates cross-region and cross-functionally to ensure clarity, scalable operations, and timely execution. Members engage in analytical problem-solving paired with hands-on implementation, transforming initial concepts into operational realities. This role offers high visibility and involves working with leaders from Product, Engineering, Legal, Risk, Finance, and Operations to drive global growth initiatives.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist in defining and sizing new market opportunities for Airwallex's APAC expansion, partnering with senior leaders to choose markets and determine success factors.
- Evaluate licensing pathways, entity structures, and commercial models to translate regulatory requirements into effective local operating models.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to convert regulatory and licensing needs into product development priorities and timelines, focusing on local launch and scaling.
- Provide support for executive decision-making through framing strategic options, preparing recommendations on market prioritization, launch readiness, and investment decisions.
- Develop and refine standardized tools, templates, and operating rhythms, leveraging AI for research, documentation, competitor analysis, and reporting to streamline market entry processes.
- Manage go/no-go and launch readiness protocols including governance, risk assessment, and mitigation across product, operational, regulatory, and commercial aspects to avoid blockers.
- Engage flexibly on key CEO Office projects outside market launches such as strategic reviews, restructures, crisis response, and structural exercises requiring disciplined execution and clear communication.
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
- 4-6 years of professional experience in top-tier strategy consulting (e.g., MBB), regulatory or financial services law, or fintech/payments strategy or expansion roles with market-entry or licensing involvement.
- Proven record contributing to intricate, multi-stakeholder programs covering workstream coordination, planning, and executive updates.
- Strong operational discipline capable of managing multi-workstream structures, governance routines, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Active use of AI tools in daily tasks for regulatory research, license mapping, competitor analysis, or automation, paired with sound judgment on verification and expert involvement.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics, engage senior leadership, and create concise, effective materials for decision forums.
- High ownership approach, comfort with ambiguity, and readiness to work hands-on to drive fast-paced launch progress.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience supporting new market introductions or license applications in APAC within fintech, payments, or financial institutions.
- Familiarity with financial services regulatory and licensing frameworks, including payments, e-money, banking, and card issuing, and comfort interfacing with legal, risk, and compliance teams.
- A background blending strategic problem-solving with execution demands, possibly combining consulting and operating roles or legal/regulatory and commercial/product-facing experience.
- Knowledge of cross-functional global expansion and product launch workflows, including intersecting roles of Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Operations in new market launches.
- Experience with CEO Office, strategy and operations, or centralized project management teams handling company-wide initiatives.
- Comfort designing and iterating lightweight AI-driven tools to standardize launch procedures and automate tracking of status, risks, and dependencies.
