Operating globally on thousands of device types across 200+ territories, Prime Video demands cutting-edge architecture that ensures excellent playback reliability, fast video start times, and high image quality.

We are seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a focused 2-pizza engineering team within the Prime Video Offers division. This team owns critical services and customer experiences that govern what customers can purchase, rent, or subscribe to and at what price. This position requires hands-on technical leadership, strong delivery skills, and people management capabilities. You will guide architectural advancements while delivering reliable, customer-facing features at a global scale, overseeing architecture, execution, operational robustness, and long-term technical strategy, influencing systems that serve millions of customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering team responsible for key services and customer journeys within Prime Video commerce.
• Take full ownership of architecture, technical execution, operational health, and reliability in your domain.
• Champion ongoing architectural modernization, making strategic decisions to enhance scalability, maintainability, reliability, and enable rapid future development.
• Build and nurture a high-performance engineering team by hiring, coaching, and retaining top talent.
• Drive career development at all levels, promoting a culture centered on ownership, innovation, teamwork, and customer obsession.
• Establish and maintain operational excellence by ensuring reliability, monitoring, on-call readiness, incident management, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Translate business and customer priorities into clear engineering goals, delivering high-quality, reliable global-scale capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and partners across Prime Video to align technical direction, manage dependencies, and integrate solutions across teams.
• Balance immediate feature delivery with strategic investments by managing technical debt and architectural evolution, clearly communicating priorities.
• Contribute to the broader Prime Video commerce architecture and engineering standards, advocating scalable solutions organization-wide.

Basic Qualifications

• 7 or more years of engineering experience.
• At least 3 years managing engineering teams.
• 8+ years of experience designing and developing multi-tier web services.
• Solid understanding of engineering practices across the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, certification, and production operations.
• Experience collaborating with product or program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven ability to communicate complex technical designs, software features, and product strategies to users, technical teams, and senior leaders.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and coaching software engineers, helping to boost their skills and effectiveness.
