Job Summary
This position supports the Front Office Manager by overseeing daily front office operations and managing staff teams including Bell/Door Staff, Switchboard, and Guest Services/Front Desk. The role ensures smooth check-in and check-out experiences, strives for outstanding guest and employee satisfaction, and aims to optimize the department’s financial performance.
Candidate Profile and Educational Requirements
Applicants should have either a high school diploma or GED plus two years of related experience in guest services or front desk operations, or a two-year degree from an accredited institution in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field with no prior work experience necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily front office activities, ensuring customer service standards are met to meet guest expectations.
- Establish goals and organize priorities to achieve effective work accomplishment.
- Address and resolve guest complaints, disputes, and grievances through negotiation.
- Manage staffing to meet operational needs and monetary targets.
- Maintain ongoing communication with employees to align with business goals, recognize performance, and drive results.
- Understand the front office's impact on overall hotel financial objectives and manage accordingly.
- Lead and inspire the front desk team through strong interpersonal and communication skills, encouraging ethical business decisions and cooperation.
- Model desired behaviors and foster trust and respect among team members.
- Supervise and manage all front office employees and operations; able to fulfill employee duties when required.
- Ensure open collaborative relationships within the team and act as the front office lead in the absence of senior managers.
- Deliver exceptional customer service that exceeds guest expectations, assist staff with guest understanding and coaching.
- Respond professionally to guest issues, empower staff to provide excellent service, and monitor service quality.
- Implement customer recognition programs, enforce credit and selling policies, and maximize room revenue through controlling occupancy.
- Conduct staff training on policies and monitor compliance to minimize bad debts and rebates.
- Maintain fairness and consistency with property policies and disciplinary procedures in accordance with SOPs and LSOPs.
- Support human resource functions including coaching, mentoring, employee feedback, and participation in recruitment and orientation.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, analyze information to solve problems, and participate actively in meetings to communicate front desk objectives.
- Perform front desk operations personally as needed and manage shift responsibilities.
