The Global Engineering & Technical portfolio at Fonterra is crucial in supporting operational excellence and strategic investments. This role presents a senior finance leadership opportunity, collaborating with leaders across Global Engineering & Technical, Capital Projects, Operations, FP&A, and Finance teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert financial leadership throughout the entire capital investment lifecycle, encompassing forecasting, cash flow management, accruals, commitments, cost-to-complete assessments, capitalization, and project close-out processes.
• Lead and integrate planning, budgeting, and forecasting efforts for the Global Engineering & Technical portfolio alongside assigned capital portfolios.
• Critically assess project controls, business cases, and forecast assumptions to enhance confidence in delivery, cost-effectiveness, and overall value.
• Monitor financial and operational performance closely, identifying risks, uncovering opportunities, and recommending corrective measures.
• Translate intricate project and financial data into clear, actionable insights for both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Enhance financial governance, portfolio reporting, and investment decision-making mechanisms.
• Coach project managers and portfolio leaders to develop expertise in financial management, commercial acumen, business case development, and project finance.

Candidate Profile

• A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline is required.
• Professional accreditation, such as Chartered Accountant membership, is preferred.
• Extensive experience in senior finance partnering, commercial roles, or accounting within a complex organisational setting.
• Deep understanding of capital project or portfolio finance, including planning, forecasting, cost control, governance, reporting, capitalization, and project closure.
• Experience in sectors like construction, infrastructure, engineering, or manufacturing, or other complex operational environments.
• Proven capability to influence senior stakeholders, offer constructive challenges, and foster trusted relationships.
• Strong commercial judgement to evaluate risks, opportunities, trade-offs, and provide practical recommendations.
• Competence in financial planning, financial modelling, scenario analysis, performance reporting, and portfolio governance.
• Ability to articulate complex financial and project data effectively to diverse audiences, both finance and non-finance.
• Experience in driving process improvements, business transformation, and cross-functional collaboration.
