Manager Engineering

Overview

The Engineering Manager leads the Engineering Section by offering comprehensive support to daily production activities and steering new product development (NPD) projects. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert, the role interacts extensively with vendors and customers, ensuring superior technical quality, process dependability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engineering expertise and solutions to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
• Troubleshoot challenges in CNC machining, collet systems, and fixture applications collaboratively with production and quality teams.
• Enhance process efficiency, accuracy, and reduce operational downtimes.
• Head engineering tasks for launching new products including feasibility assessments, prototyping, testing, and validation.
• Engage in APQP, PPAP, and customer requirement reviews to ensure design compliance.
• Communicate with vendors and customers to align technical specifications and ensure timely submission of engineering documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Serve as the primary SME for vendor and customer technical discussions, supporting vendor development, process validations, and quality approvals.
• Champion continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S to optimize costs and standardize engineering processes.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental statutes, performing risk assessments (HIRA/JSA), conducting safety audits, and promoting a zero-incident safety culture.
• Adhere to Information Security Management System (ISMS) and TISAX protocols by securing sensitive engineering data, controlling access, training the team on data security, and reporting breaches.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians, setting clear roles and performance expectations while encouraging a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
• Hold authority over engineering approvals, resource allocation, performance evaluation, and enforcing safety and quality compliance.

Interfaces & Dimensions

• Engages internally with HOD, production, QA, HR, SCM, sales, and IT teams.
• Coordinates externally with customers, vendors, and auditors.
• Manages a team of 7 engineering members based in Pune.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) or Industrial Production Engineering (DME).
• Preferred additional certifications though not required.
• 7 to 12 years of experience in automotive or manufacturing engineering with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
• Technical expertise in product design feasibility, prototyping, validation, APQP, PPAP, DFMEA/PFMEA, control plan development, engineering change management, IATF 16949 standards, and proficiency with AutoCAD.
