Role Overview

As Manager of Cost Engineering / Design to Value (DTV), you will lead a team of engineers to establish comprehensive cost engineering benchmarks and deliver detailed supplier price and cost analysis. You will empower strategic negotiation efforts within Supply Chain Procurement focused on precision plastics, drug-delivery systems, single-use technologies, and packaging.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Supply Chain Procurement leadership to construct, prioritize, and manage the cost-modeling pipeline aligning with business strategies.
• Lead and coordinate engineers, including onboarding and training, to maintain consistency in standard methodologies.
• Partner with technical teams (MSAT, PES) to acquire material and process specifications essential for should-cost modeling, and translate these into clear directives.
• Analyze cost disparities by comparing should-cost models to supplier pricing to identify negotiation opportunities and areas for continuous improvement.
• Provide analytical support for Supplier Relationship Managers regarding price increases and contract evaluations.
• Design and implement supplier questionnaires and cost transparency formats, contributing to supplier bidding analyses that support sourcing decisions.
• Refine material and product cost frameworks to assist in forecasting market changes, budgeting, and managing supply disruptions.
• Equip procurement teams with detailed, data-driven negotiation strategies and insights.
• Foster development of cost-engineering skills across procurement and business partners through training on should-cost principles, supplier financial analysis, and related negotiation techniques.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, procurement, cost engineering, or related technical fields, including leadership of technical teams or complex projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological sciences, or related discipline is required; advanced degrees are preferred.
• In-depth experience with manufacturing precision plastics or packaging, preferably in pharmaceutical or medical device fields, including knowledge of process flows, cycle times, yields, clean room operations, utility systems, and manufacturing equipment specification and commissioning.
• Proven leadership skills with experience managing engineering teams and priorities.
• Strong analytical capability to assess complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Effective influencer able to embed best practices in cost engineering, analytics, supplier transparency, and negotiation among stakeholders.

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
• Robust project and program management expertise.
• Advanced financial and analytical skills.
• Adaptability to multitasking and dynamic environments within matrix organizations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with engineering, analytics, or cost-modeling software platforms.
• Strong capability to interpret engineering specifications and drawings.
• Project management certification is an advantage.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range varies by location with expected annual base pay approximately €79,800 to €137,770 depending on location and role complexity. Benefits include performance bonuses, parental and caregiver leave, volunteer leave, wellness reimbursements, insurance plans, recognition awards, and vacation entitlements. Specific benefits and compensation details may vary by country.

Additional Information

The Netherlands salary includes an 8% holiday allowance. Occasional travel is required.
