Make Ready Car Washer

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Make Ready Car Washer to join our team at Sames Auto Group in Laredo, TX. This position demands responsibility in preparing vehicles to meet our dealership standards for presentation, ensuring cleanliness and maintaining a professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean inventory and customer vehicles following dealership protocols to meet presentation standards.
• Assist the Make Ready Department with various tasks as needed.
• Keep the facility and surrounding shop areas clean and orderly.
• Wash, polish, vacuum interiors, and clean all vehicle glass according to established procedures.
• Conduct final vehicle inspections before moving them to designated storage areas to confirm adherence to quality standards.
• Perform scheduled routine maintenance of property, including sweeping and scrubbing driveways and shop areas.
• Safely transport customer vehicles from storage as directed.
• Collect required parts and materials as requested.
• Refuel vehicles based on instructions.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to automobile body shop operations, including hazardous waste disposal.
• Carry out other assigned and requested tasks.

Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year experience in washing, drying, and polishing automobiles, with knowledge of cleaning clear coats, new paint, and automobile glass preferred.
• Capability to work effectively regardless of vehicle size or work environment, utilizing recommended dealership methods and equipment.
• Customer-focused approach with polite, courteous demeanor and cooperative attitude.
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently.
• Physical capability to retrieve, load, and deliver items up to 125 lbs. in good condition.
• High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish, including reading and writing skills.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate various vehicles; must be insurable.

Working Conditions

This role involves physically demanding tasks, requiring standing for 6 to 8 hours per day and lifting objects between 10 and 125 lbs. The employee may be exposed to dust, fumes, and both hazardous and nonhazardous substances. Driving vehicles in all weather conditions is part of the job. Work hours may include evenings, holidays, and weekends.
