Location and Contract Details
This position is based in Waterford, Ireland, and is offered as a fixed-term contract for 23 months. The work schedule comprises a 25/5 shift pattern over three cycles of 8-hour shifts.
About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Team Lead, you will be an essential member of the Product Supply Unit team, contributing to the dependable supply of syringe and vial products worldwide.
The Product Supply Assembly Processing Unit (APU) includes various platforms involving inspection, assembly, labeling, and cartoning of autoinjectors, prefilled syringes, and vials. These platforms range from manual operations to high-speed automated production lines.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct both corrective and preventive maintenance across four production lines: Lyophilised Vial Semi-Automated Visual Inspection, Pre-Filled Syringe Manual Visual Inspection, Auto-Injector Assembly & Packaging, and Lyophilised Vial Packaging.
- Troubleshoot equipment faults promptly to reduce production downtime.
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks and planned activities according to the site maintenance schedule.
- Read and apply engineering drawings and technical documents to support repairs, upgrades, and fault diagnosis.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply fully with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
- Maintain safety standards when working with production equipment.
- Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, and documentation to facilitate audits and regulatory inspections.
- Assist with investigations into equipment deviations, breakdowns, or non-conformances.
- Respond quickly to equipment failures or production stoppages to restore operational availability.
- Support equipment changeovers, line clearances, and setup between different product runs.
- Maintain work areas in accordance with site housekeeping and 5S methodologies.
- Collaborate with Production, Automation, and Quality teams to address line performance issues.
- Use problem-solving methods to identify and address root causes of recurring equipment problems.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing equipment reliability, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and reducing downtime.
- Contribute to Opex and Smart Factory initiatives by engaging in improvement efforts.
- Provide recommendations on preventive maintenance plans based on hands-on experience.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities with Engineering & Maintenance, Automation, and Manufacturing Operations teams.
- Support training and knowledge exchange with production operators on equipment upkeep where applicable.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience working in a regulated GMP environment.
- Proven abilities in problem solving and effective communication.
- Strong skills in documentation preparation and execution.
- Experience with automation systems is advantageous.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
