Job description
Overview
This Maintenance Technician position is based at the Autograph Collection hotel in Lusail, Qatar. The role involves responding to guest repair requests, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring equipment and facilities are operational and well-maintained. The technician will handle a variety of tasks ranging from tool inspections and equipment lubrication to painting and minor structural repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Address and resolve maintenance requests from hotel guests promptly and communicate effectively with them regarding issues.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on kitchen tools, machinery, and equipment including cleaning and lubrication tasks.
- Perform visual inspections on tools, machines, and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
- Transport necessary tools, equipment, and radios across the premises.
- Locate, operate, and manage all shut-off valves and general service disconnect controls for the building.
- Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and request parts and materials as needed.
- Communicate daily maintenance activities and problems to other shift employees following standard procedures.
- Acquire and demonstrate basic knowledge in areas such as HVAC, electrical systems, mechanical systems, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, energy conservation, and general building management.
- Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood repairs, bulb and air filter replacements, and thorough cleaning related to these tasks.
- Diagnose issues and execute basic repairs in plumbing, electrical components, lamps, household devices, internet hardware, switches, sockets, and guest room amenities.
- Program televisions and conduct general engineering maintenance and inventory duties.
- Apply Lockout/Tagout safety protocols before performing maintenance work.
- Maintain and repair interior and exterior gardens and irrigation systems.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills for tasks such as entering air conditioning schedules and temperature adjustments.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, report hazards, accidents, and complete necessary safety training.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold property confidentiality and security standards.
- Welcome and assist guests in accordance with company hospitality standards, including assisting persons with disabilities.
- Ensure all quality expectations and standards are met.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues and support team objectives.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with staff and guests.
- Handle manual tasks such as lifting, moving, and carrying items weighing 50 pounds (around 4.5 kg) or less unaided, and perform physical activities including climbing stairs and bending.
- Use computers to input and locate work-related information.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Preferred education: High school diploma, GED, or vocational/technical training certification.
- Relevant work experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting.
- Experience in hotel engineering/maintenance is considered an asset.
- A valid driving license is required.
- No supervisory experience necessary.
