About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Maintenance & Trades Supervisor to provide direct leadership in maintenance activities at a major processing plant. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will oversee a team of tradespeople and contractors, managing both preventive and reactive maintenance to ensure plant reliability, efficiency, and high safety standards. This role involves close collaboration with production and operational teams to drive continuous improvement, minimize downtime, and sustain critical equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage maintenance tradespeople and contractors on site
- Organize and coordinate both planned preventative and emergency maintenance tasks
- Ensure plant operations remain safe, reliable, and efficient
- Prioritize maintenance activities and effectively allocate resources across the facility
- Champion health and safety practices within a high-risk environment
- Support initiatives aimed at plant reliability and continuous improvement
- Mentor and develop team skills and performance
- Foster strong relationships with operational departments
Candidate Profile
- Holds a recognized trade qualification such as Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering, Refrigeration, or Fitting & Turning
- Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial processing, engineering or heavy industry settings
- Strong abilities in planning, organization, and problem-solving
- Experience managing contractors and maintenance within complex operational contexts
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety standards
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative leadership approach capable of motivating and supporting a team
- Capability to work effectively in a demanding and fast-moving environment
- Must have current unrestricted work rights in New Zealand
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical, drug/alcohol screening, and background checks
