Job Overview
We are looking for a Maintenance Planner to join our team in Brakpan, Gauteng. This role involves designing and managing detailed maintenance job plans, migrating planning processes into SAP PM, and improving maintenance productivity to ensure optimal plant reliability and reduced breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate comprehensive maintenance job plans and standardize task lists within SAP PM.
- Develop and implement structured preventive maintenance strategies and schedules.
- Create detailed and clear job packs for execution teams to facilitate efficient maintenance work.
- Lead the transition of maintenance planning from Excel spreadsheets to SAP PM software.
- Coordinate and facilitate weekly maintenance planning and scheduling meetings to align with production needs.
- Ensure proper planning of work orders before scheduling them for execution.
- Manage maintenance backlog and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Plan and oversee plant shutdown maintenance activities including scope development and performance tracking.
- Ensure timely preparation of parts, labor, and contractors for scheduled maintenance work.
- Work closely with stores to guarantee availability and reservation of all necessary materials and spare parts for maintenance jobs.
- Enhance engineering output by implementing organized maintenance planning procedures.
- Provide technicians with precise job instructions and high-quality job packs to minimize wasted hours due to poor preparation.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Hold a minimum Matric certificate along with a Diploma or Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least one year of relevant experience in manufacturing or plant maintenance environments.
- Experience with SAP PM is advantageous, as is familiarity with Microsoft Project.

The Maintenance Planner is accountable for continuously enhancing the plant’s maintenance planning and scheduling system, aligning it with World Class Manufacturing principles. This position ensures that all maintenance is planned, resourced, scheduled, and executed efficiently, safely, and with minimal impact on production.
