About the Role
Join a workplace where passion drives performance! As a Maintenance Planner at Tiger Brands in Brakpan, Gauteng, you will play a crucial role in managing the planned maintenance system, organizing maintenance activities, and overseeing the purchase and inventory management of engineering spares.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, assigning tasks to specific artisans.
- Dispatch ad-hoc maintenance and repairs efficiently to maintenance artisans.
- Manage procurement and inventory of routine and critical engineering spares.
- Ensure equipment availability by keeping machinery operating within specifications.
- Enhance efficiency of upgraded equipment and new technological installations.
- Coordinate installation of electrical and electronic equipment on new projects and production lines.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Coordinator, Manager, and Site Engineer for external supplier engagements and contract work.
- Prepare detailed work orders defining scope, step-wise instructions, and estimated durations using CMMS.
- Identify and coordinate resources including spare parts, tools, external contractors, and labor for maintenance tasks.
- Design and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Ensure safety compliance through appropriate documentation, risk assessments, and permits such as lockout/tagout for each job.
- Manage inventory levels, order spare parts proactively, and monitor maintenance costs.
- Serve as liaison among maintenance teams, stockroom personnel, procurement, and production departments.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Relevant trade certification in Mechanical or Electrical areas, S4 qualification or B-Tech degree.
- At least 5 years’ experience in maintenance planning.
- Solid technical expertise in industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and repair operations.
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms such as DMS or SAP for asset and work order management.
- Strong organizational skills including effective time management, problem resolution, and juggling multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to facilitate clear instructions and team coordination.
