Maintenance Person

Overview

Stanton Court Nursing Home, located in the village of Stanton Drew near Chew Magna and part of the Country Court family, is seeking a Maintenance Person to ensure the facility is a safe, well-maintained environment for residents and staff. The role involves maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations and supporting the home's operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance duties such as painting, decorating, minor plumbing, electrical repairs, and carpentry tasks.
• Carry out regular compliance inspections including checks on fire alarms, emergency lighting, water temperatures, legionella controls, and PAT testing, maintaining thorough records.
• Conduct health and safety inspections, promptly reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the Home Manager.
• Respond quickly to maintenance requests from staff or management to ensure smooth operations.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized tasks while ensuring all visitors follow safeguarding and safety protocols.
• Ensure safe and proper use and storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain the property's exterior including gardens, paths, and parking areas as needed.
• Assist with moving furniture and setting up rooms to support daily home activities.
• Participate in ongoing training relevant to the maintenance role.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with current laws and Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience in maintenance or facilities work, preferably in care or related environments.
• Proficiency in plumbing, electrical work, painting/decorating, and general DIY.
• Solid understanding of health and safety standards, including COSHH, fire safety, and manual handling.
• Ability to complete administrative duties accurately, including compliance documentation.
• Friendly and professional demeanor with dedication to maintaining high standards and resident care.
• Reliable, self-driven, able to work independently or collaboratively.
• Physically capable of performing manual labor tasks.

Desirable Attributes

• Relevant certifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Building Maintenance.
• Previous work experience in a healthcare or care home setting.
• Basic knowledge of legionella prevention and fire safety systems.
