Role Overview

The Maintenance Officer role is a full-time position based on-site at Ridleyton Greek Home in Brompton. This role encompasses responsibility for ongoing maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the buildings, grounds, and equipment. The objective is to ensure a safe, comfortable living environment for residents, as well as a functional workplace for staff and welcoming space for visitors.

Key Duties

• Carry out preventive maintenance and timely corrective repairs.
• Address maintenance requests and urgent work orders promptly.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs when necessary.
• Monitor building systems including electrical and basic mechanical components.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and proper records of all maintenance activities.
• Communicate effectively and courteously with residents, staff, and contractors.
• Contribute to ongoing enhancement of the facility’s infrastructure and safety.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Competency in equipment maintenance and general repair work on buildings, grounds, and facilities.
• Experience with fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance interventions.
• Basic electrical knowledge along with an understanding of building systems and a focus on safety.
• Strong communication abilities to work well with diverse stakeholders.
• Recognized trade certification or equivalent practical experience in building maintenance or facilities management.
• Awareness of or eagerness to understand culturally diverse and aged care settings.
• Self-motivated, capable of prioritizing tasks, and diligent in documentation.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards, including manual handling procedures.
