Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all physical components of the plant including electrical and mechanical systems, production equipment upkeep, facility utilities, and grounds maintenance, ensuring full compliance with company and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and managing schedules for the maintenance team and coordinate daily assignments, ensuring work aligns with production, quality, and safety standards.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all machinery, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Support recruitment and training efforts for maintenance personnel, keeping all staff current on safety protocols.
- Ensure maintenance operations adhere strictly to company and OSHA safety regulations.
- Collaborate with plant leadership to manage departmental budgets, including unit production metrics and capital projects.
- Partner with management to troubleshoot maintenance and equipment challenges and organize maintenance activities in support of production schedules when possible.
- Coordinate external contractors and vendors to guarantee project completion within quality, safety, budget, and deadline requirements.
- Oversee purchasing of parts and supplies to manage inventory for both peak and off-season production needs while maintaining budget compliance.
- Maintain clean and orderly workspaces, shops, and storage areas within the maintenance department.
- Actively contribute to the SAVES program initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Experience and Skills Required
- Proven leadership and management experience of 5-10 years in maintenance environments with ability to lead diverse teams.
- Advanced mechanical expertise with 5-10 years in maintenance roles; supervisory or managerial experience is preferred.
- Excellent organizational ability and meticulous attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulatory standards relevant to plant maintenance.
- Capability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate effectively aligned to team skills.
- Extensive familiarity with building systems such as plumbing, electrical, boilers, and HVAC.
- Strong mechanical analytical skills for troubleshooting and performance improvement.
- Proactive problem identification and use of preventive maintenance for scheduling, budgeting, and managing project timelines aligned with production needs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Superior written and verbal communication; bilingual English and Spanish skills are advantageous.
- Additional certifications or formal training in mechanical or technical specialties like boiler operation, welding, electrical work, or plumbing are highly valuable.
