Team Overview

The Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) Global Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team ensures the operational stability, scalability, and efficiency of the machine learning infrastructure that drives the global advertising systems of ByteDance. This includes overseeing the entire machine learning lifecycle—ranging from data pipelines, model development, training, deployment, inference, to monitoring and continuous enhancement.

Opportunity

We invite motivated recent graduates or soon-to-be graduates to join our team. As a graduate engineer, you will engage in pioneering projects, face challenging technical problems, and access extensive opportunities for career advancement. Candidates are expected to confirm availability for onboarding by the end of the year and clearly state their graduation date and availability in their applications. Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) ensuring the reliability, availability, and high performance of large-scale online machine learning inference systems.
• Maintain and enhance the reliability and operational quality of offline machine learning training workflows by improving the success rates of training tasks.
• Plan infrastructure capacity and allocate resources efficiently to meet evolving computing needs for machine learning workloads, maximizing GPU and CPU utilization through ongoing performance enhancements.
• Facilitate deployment of new machine learning frameworks and GPU platforms at a large scale while preserving model accuracy and business outcomes.
• Design, develop, and sustain MLOps platforms and automation tools, including but not limited to quota management, job diagnostics, monitoring, resource allocation, and operational tools.

Essential Qualifications

• Completion or near completion of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proficiency with Linux systems, including networking and storage concepts.
• Programming experience with at least one of the following languages: Python, Go, C, C++, or Java.
• Practical skills in diagnosing application problems or handling production operations.
• Strong communication skills alongside a proactive attitude and ownership of responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in site reliability engineering specifically for machine learning systems.
• Familiarity with site reliability practices related to advertisement, recommendation, or search platforms.
