Logistics Supervisor

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Supervisor to oversee and manage the loading and unloading operations of import shipping containers at Nhava Sheva (JNPT). The role involves ensuring smooth coordination of container unloading, manpower allocation, cargo handling, and maintaining documentation while promoting operational excellence and safety.

Key Duties

• Oversee unloading of imported cargo from shipping containers at various locations including port, CFS, ICD, or warehouse sites.
• Manage activities related to container handling such as unloading cargo, segregating, stacking, and moving items to assigned storage areas.
• Assign and track labour resources including loaders and forklift operators.
• Liaise with transporters, port staff, warehouse teams, and logistics representatives for timely container clearance and unloading processes.
• Monitor container arrivals, unloading timelines, turnaround durations, and cargo transfers.
• Inspect cargo, verify quantities, check packaging conditions, and immediately report any shortages, damages, or inconsistencies.
• Ensure proper cargo handling and keep detailed records and documentation of unloading activities.
• Adhere to safety rules during container opening, cargo handling, moving materials, and operating equipment.
• Supervise labour productivity, strive to reduce cargo damage, and maximize effective use of manpower and handling machinery.
• Prepare and submit daily operational reports summarizing container handling, unloading progress, manpower usage, and outstanding tasks.

Qualifications and Profile

• 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in unloading import containers, shipping logistics, CFS operations, port functions, or cargo management.
• Practical understanding of procedures for import container unloading and cargo logistics.
• Experience in supervising labour, coordinating with transport and logistics teams.
• Familiarity with cargo tally practices, damage documentation, unloading record maintenance, and basic import paperwork.
• Ability to manage day-to-day operations under stringent deadlines and operational stress.
• Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Willingness to work shifts and at the Nhava Sheva location as required.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with direct experience in import container unloading operations at Nhava Sheva/JNPT, Container Freight Stations (CFS), port terminals, or import warehouses will be strongly favored.

Compensation

Monthly salary range: INR 15,000 to 17,000.
