Job Description
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for dispatching drivers with loads, coordinating overflow tasks, and verifying drivers’ hours of service. The role also encompasses yard control duties, including assigning trailer movements to yard shifters during operations such as unloading and sorting.
Responsibilities
- Manage dispatch of loads nationally across the feeder network, considering service levels, transit times, and sorting priorities.
- Coordinate overflow activities efficiently.
- Verify drivers’ compliance with hours of service regulations.
- Oversee yard control tasks by directing trailer movements with multiple shifters in the yard and during unload/sort activities.
Qualifications
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Ability to enter data accurately and quickly.
