Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Logistics Planner to become an integral part of our operations based in Fonthill. The successful candidate will function in a warehouse and logistics administrative setting, coordinating closely with drivers, warehouse personnel, and other operational staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and optimize daily delivery and installation schedules for white goods, televisions, and other items, ensuring effective utilization of vehicles, drivers, and installation teams across several routes.
- Assign jobs to vehicles and crews by using strategic route planning that considers geography, delivery order, product characteristics, installation needs, vehicle limits, crew skills, and driver working hours.
- Manage delivery routes spanning various locations to meet customer needs while maximizing delivery capacity, reducing travel time, and enhancing operational efficiency; focus on minimizing delays, missed deliveries, and re-scheduling.
- Collaborate extensively with warehouse, customer service, sales, support, and installation teams to guarantee that orders are complete, prepared, and ready to dispatch, promptly addressing any issues or concerns.
- Oversee real-time delivery operations, proactively handling delays, vehicle breakdowns, cancellations, missed deliveries, and other exceptions, maintaining precise delivery and installation schedules and ensuring all related data is current.
- Communicate effectively internally with various teams and externally with customers and third-party contractors to provide delivery status updates and swiftly address problems professionally.
- Generate reports analyzing delivery and installation metrics such as on-time performance, first-time completion, failed deliveries, route job count, driver and resource usage, and customer satisfaction indicators.
- Partner with management to uncover opportunities for improving route planning, delivery capacity, installation productivity, and overall efficiency through data-driven process enhancements and technology utilization.
- Ensure all tasks meet company protocols, health and safety regulations, driver rules, and customer service expectations.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong aptitude for designing efficient delivery and installation routes balancing geography, customer time windows, vehicle and crew capacities.
- Proficient in handling large volumes of tasks, rapidly shifting priorities, and stringent delivery timelines while maintaining precision.
- Capable of swiftly addressing operational challenges such as delays and failed deliveries with practical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with drivers, installers, warehouse staff, internal departments, customers, and third parties to ensure seamless operation.
- Comfortable using transport planning, scheduling, and delivery software systems, with the ability to analyze data and identify areas for process improvement.
- Good knowledge of Dublin and the broader Leinster region geography.
- Computer literate, mandatory email usage, with advanced Microsoft Excel or Numbers skills considered an advantage; experienced in managing telephone enquiries.
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Familiarity with delivery routing or planning tools software.
- Experience in multi-drop or home delivery operations involving large or bulky items with installation services.
- Possession of a valid full clean driving licence.
