Logistics Buyer

Position Overview

A prominent industrial firm is seeking a proactive and meticulous Logistics Buyer responsible for procuring consumables, engineering spare parts, maintenance materials, tools, and operational supplies. This role supports logistics, warehouse, maintenance, and operational teams to ensure uninterrupted production through timely availability of critical materials while managing costs and supplier relationships effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Procure logistics consumables, maintenance materials, engineering spares, tools, PPE, warehouse, and operational supplies according to company standards.
• Request quotations, perform commercial evaluations, and assist in selecting suitable suppliers.
• Manage purchase orders ensuring compliance with company protocols and approval workflows.
• Verify purchased items meet quality, specification, and delivery criteria.
• Establish and nurture relationships with both local and international suppliers to ensure optimal performance.
• Monitor supplier delivery, quality, responsiveness, pricing, and service levels.
• Participate in negotiations to improve pricing, lead times, payment terms, and services.
• Assess and onboard new suppliers to enhance supplier diversity and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with logistics, warehouse, maintenance, engineering, and operations departments to understand and prioritize material requirements.
• Ensure availability of essential consumables and spares to reduce operational downtime.
• Respond promptly to urgent procurement needs arising from equipment failures or emergencies.
• Coordinate timely delivery of materials with involved teams.
• Monitor stock levels, usage trends, and replenishment needs, promoting inventory optimization and cost-saving initiatives.
• Support standardization efforts for frequently used consumables, tools, and spare parts.
• Track purchasing expenses and seek methods to enhance procurement efficiency.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation, update ERP systems, and generate reports.
• Assist in defining and enforcing procurement procedures and ensure adherence to company policies.
• Keep comprehensive records for audits and compliance purposes.
• Drive continuous improvements in logistics and procurement processes through innovation and collaboration.
• Engage in cross-functional projects focused on improving operational performance and purchasing effectiveness.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred.
• 3 to 5 years experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain roles.
• Background in manufacturing, automotive, industrial, engineering, or logistics sectors is advantageous.
• Previous exposure to purchasing engineering spares, consumables, maintenance materials, tools, PPE, and operational equipment preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent organizational abilities, negotiation aptitude, and skills in supplier management.
• Strong understanding of logistics, procurement processes, and industrial operation needs.
• Attention to detail, multitasking capabilities, and a problem-solving mindset focused on cost efficiency.
• Effective communication and ability to collaborate across functions.
• Capacity to operate well under pressure and tackle urgent operational demands efficiently.
