Job description

Position Overview

The role is focused on ensuring the safety and enjoyment of guests at both the beach and pool areas. The lifeguard is responsible for monitoring swimmers, identifying potential hazards, enforcing facility rules, and providing timely rescue interventions when needed.

Primary Duties

  • Employ appropriate rescue methods to aid swimmers in distress.
  • Continuously monitor swimming areas for risks, unusual behavior, or unsafe actions.
  • Communicate and uphold the rules and regulations of the recreational space.
  • Alert supervisors or managers to situations where guests might be at risk when participating in activities.
  • Provide immediate care to injured individuals until professional medical help arrives.
  • Maintain a welcoming and relaxed environment for all guests.
  • Manage poolside cleanliness by folding towels as per company guidelines and cleaning the pool deck.

Safety and Administration

  • Report incidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions promptly to management.
  • Complete all mandatory safety trainings and certifications.
  • Adhere strictly to organizational policies, maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding company property.

Guest Service

  • Greet and acknowledge guests following company standards.
  • Keep a neat and professional personal appearance and uniform.
  • Anticipate the needs of guests and provide assistance, including support for individuals with disabilities.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with guests and colleagues.

Physical and Operational Requirements

  • Conduct visual inspections of equipment and tools to detect any defects.
  • Respond promptly to situations requiring physical movement such as running or walking quickly.
  • Stand, sit, or walk throughout the entire shift as needed.
  • Handle and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently and heavier objects with assistance.
  • Perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and physical flexibility including reaching, bending, and climbing.
  • Adapt to varying terrain including slippery or uneven surfaces, stairs, and ramps.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
  • No previous experience or supervisory background required.
  • Must possess current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Additional fitness equipment training and any local/state mandated certifications are required.
