Opportunity Overview

We are seeking three motivated and customer-oriented individuals to join the Henderson-Massey Libraries team as Libraries & Council Services Assistants. These positions involve working across various library sites including Te Manawa Hub, Te Atatū Hub, Waitakere Central Library, and Ranui Library, helping communities access a variety of library and council services.

Role Significance

These roles support seamless operation and service delivery across the Henderson-Massey library network, fostering collaboration between sites and ensuring consistent, quality customer experiences. Primary Duties

  • Deliver exemplary customer service in relation to library, venue hire, and council services.
  • Address and resolve customer inquiries promptly at the first contact.
  • Assist patrons in utilizing self-service technology, library materials, and digital platforms confidently.
  • Facilitate access to council services through relevant tools and systems.
  • Provide guidance on diverse library collections in multiple formats.
  • Ensure library collections are accessible, well-organized, and maintained in good condition.
  • Support daily library operations collaboratively within the team.
  • Stay informed about technological advances, library services, and customer support techniques.

  • Positive, adaptable, and customer-focused with a strong sense of teamwork.
  • Demonstrates understanding and respect for Te Ao Māori values and principles.
  • Competent using technology and capable of assisting customers with digital devices.
  • Flexible work style with ability to operate across multiple locations.
  • Experienced in engaging with diverse cultural groups, age ranges, and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Supports the delivery of engaging library programs and services.
  • Empathetic and people-centric approach to work responsibilities.
  • Committed to delivering outstanding customer experiences and contributing positively to team dynamics.
  • Possesses a valid, clean New Zealand driver’s license essential for travel between locations.
