Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position based in Dar es-Salaam requires managing both physical and digital library collections. You will be responsible for accurate cataloging, metadata management, and daily operations of the library. Key duties include assisting users in finding and utilizing resources, providing reference and research support, conducting library instruction sessions to improve patrons' information literacy, managing lending processes, aiding in collection development, implementing library policies, and collaborating with educators and staff to ensure services meet institutional goals. Promoting a friendly, user-centered environment is essential.

Qualifications

• Solid background in Library Science with expertise in managing diverse collections and users.
• Proficient in Metadata standards and Library Management practices for sorting and classifying physical and digital materials.
• Skilled at delivering library instruction and training in information literacy and research techniques.
• Holds at least a Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or relevant discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
• Familiar with library management software and digital tools, including online databases and electronic resources.
• Strong organizational abilities, excellent communication, and outstanding customer service skills, with the capacity to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
• Detail-oriented, committed to maintaining data accuracy, and able to juggle multiple priorities in a busy setting.
• Experience in academic or educational library environments is an asset.
