About the Role
Media City Qatar is looking for a seasoned Media & Editorial Compliance Lawyer. This role involves delivering expert legal counsel related to media law, editorial policies, content regulations, intellectual property rights, and digital media compliance. The role supports a diverse network of media businesses, content producers, technology collaborators, and license holders within its media hub to ensure adherence to legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing legal guidance on matters involving media law, editorial standards, advertising, digital media, privacy, and intellectual property.
- Contributing to regulatory and compliance projects and assisting with policy formulation at Media City Qatar.
- Overseeing drafting, reviewing, and negotiations of commercial contracts including content, licensing, technology, sponsorship, and collaboration agreements.
- Advising on issues related to content creation, distribution, rights clearance, and management.
- Supporting interactions with license holders, content creators, broadcasters, production firms, digital platforms, and regulatory authorities.
- Keeping abreast of legal and regulatory changes impacting the media sector both locally and internationally.
Requirements
- Qualified legal professional with 6 to 10 years post-qualification experience (PQE).
- At least six years’ experience as an in-house lawyer within a prominent international media, broadcast, publishing, digital streaming, or entertainment firm is mandatory.
- Deep expertise in media law, editorial compliance, advertising, content regulation, intellectual property, privacy, and digital media legislation.
- Demonstrated skill in negotiating complex agreements involving media content, licensing, technology, and commercial contracts.
- Experience working in a dynamic, international media environment with the ability to advise senior leadership effectively.
- Strong skills in drafting legal documents, negotiating terms, and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
