Job description
Role Overview
Join Auckland Council as a Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) Advisor within the Resilience & Infrastructure Directorate, where you will influence and enhance individual and team performance across a complex, high-impact environment. You will collaborate closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and teams to identify key learning and organisational development needs, transforming them into practical, engaging, and effective solutions that truly make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with leadership to assess capability gaps and learning needs.
- Design, facilitate and deliver impactful learning experiences across various formats.
- Lead workshops, training sessions, and train-the-trainer programs to empower participants.
- Support initiatives related to leadership development, organisational culture, employee engagement, and performance enhancement.
- Manage learning and organisational development projects including evaluation of their effectiveness to promote continuous improvement.
Candidate Profile
We seek an experienced L&OD professional comfortable with strategic advisory roles and hands-on delivery. Essential qualifications include:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in learning and development encompassing strong learning design expertise.
- In-depth understanding of contemporary L&OD frameworks and adult learning principles.
- Proficiency in full-cycle learning development from analysis through evaluation.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, adaptable mindset with a keen attention to detail and a results-oriented approach.
Additional desirable attributes include eLearning content creation, leadership development experience, familiarity with LMS management and content curation, project management capabilities, relevant academic qualifications, and experience within large, complex organisations.
The role demands flexibility to navigate between high-level strategy and hands-on workshop design and facilitation. Confidence to challenge assumptions, professional curiosity, sound judgement, continuous improvement orientation, and the ability to handle multiple priorities independently are imperative. Building strong, trusted relationships is central to being effective in this role.
