Role Overview

The Lead for Talent Development & Engagement will craft and execute strategies focused on talent management, leadership development, functional capability enhancement, and employee engagement. This role is integral to preserving Airtel Nigeria’s culture and driving above-par organizational performance aligned with corporate objectives. Working alongside HR leadership and business units, this position fosters programs that attract, retain, and nurture top talent while fostering lifelong learning and positive employee experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and apply a talent management strategy aligned with corporate goals.
  • Lead annual reviews of talent, succession plans, and high-potential programs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify talent gaps and growth opportunities.
  • Support performance management including setting goals, conducting reviews, and growth planning.
  • Track talent metrics and suggest retention and internal mobility enhancements.
  • Create and implement initiatives from employee engagement surveys improving morale and performance.
  • Work with Corporate Communications to ensure messaging aligns with company culture and management principles.
  • Facilitate interventions supporting company-wide people priorities such as forums, events, wellness, and team building.
  • Manage recognition and rewards schemes fostering engagement and staff retention.
  • Lead organizational change projects consistent with corporate and people strategies.
  • Support change management through communication, training, and employee readiness activities.
  • Design continuous feedback systems promoting transformation and engagement.
  • Conduct workshops and team development activities.
  • Partner with HR Business Partners on organizational effectiveness and capability-building initiatives.
  • Contribute to cultural change and ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive learning strategies including blended learning approaches and training needs analysis.
  • Plan and oversee annual training calendars and budgets; manage vendor relationships for quality and cost efficiency.
  • Support implementation of Group Talent Development programs locally.
  • Provide internal consulting on policy reviews, change initiatives, and organizational design.
  • Create dashboards and analyze metrics related to learning, engagement, retention, and talent effectiveness.
  • Evaluate ROI for talent development and engagement programs.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, Psychology or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Business or HR Management or related field is preferred; professional certifications such as CIPMN, CIPD, or SHRM are advantageous.
  • At least eight years of experience in talent management, learning and development, organizational development or employee engagement with proven success in change management and organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience administering organizational culture programs and employee engagement initiatives preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about talent management, succession planning, and the business sector relevant to the organization.
