Job description
About Scribd, Inc.
Scribd, Inc. is dedicated to advancing human understanding through its four main products — Scribd®, Slideshare®, Everand™, and Fable — which collectively help billions worldwide transition from mere access to genuine insight and expertise.
Culture
Our culture encourages authenticity and boldness, promoting open debate and strong commitment while adapting to changes. Every team member is empowered to act, placing customer priorities at the forefront. The Scribd Flex initiative offers flexible work models balancing individual work preferences with important community interactions. Although flexible, occasional in-person attendance is required for all employees, irrespective of their location.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Lead Product Manager focused on user acquisition. While other teams manage acquisition channels such as Performance Marketing, SEO, Partnerships, and Brand on a daily basis, this role serves as the product-side counterpart. Responsibilities include defining target audiences, expanding channel mix, and leading the roadmap as well as engineering investments to support acquisition goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and adapt the acquisition roadmap and prioritize engineering efforts in response to market changes.
- Maintain comprehensive insight across acquisition channels to recommend evidence-based investment strategies to leadership and channel owners.
- Integrate acquisition features directly into the product via referrals, sharing, and similar mechanisms to encourage user growth.
- Develop and support product features that enhance channel effectiveness, including search, discoverability, AI readiness, integrations, and tracking.
- Innovate by identifying and testing new user outreach methods, scaling those that demonstrate long-term success.
- Collaborate closely with teams handling Performance Marketing, SEO, Partnerships, and Brand to ensure product and channel investments reinforce each other.
- Establish meaningful metrics linking acquisition activities to subscriber lifetime value rather than just volume or cost metrics.
- Engage cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Analytics, Data Science, Product, Marketing, and Brand teams.
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience in product management or growth roles, including a minimum of 2 years focusing on user acquisition, ideally within a consumer subscription context.
- Hybrid expertise combining deep growth marketing knowledge with strong product management skills, or vice versa.
- Proficient understanding of various acquisition channels such as paid search/social, SEO, partnerships, and in-product acquisition, with clear insights on their advantages and compromises.
- Able to work closely with channel specialists, earning their trust through deep knowledge without needing to operate the channels oneself.
- Demonstrated success integrating acquisition mechanics like growth loops directly into products beyond optimizing paid methods.
- Advanced skills in data analysis, experimentation, attribution, and funnel optimization, with a focus on long-term subscriber value.
- Strong influencing skills to align marketing and product teams without formal authority.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and capable of defining new strategic direction rather than relying on existing plans.
- Bonus: experience with AI search engine optimization, large-scale SEO, and B2C/B2B2C distribution strategies.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is competitive and based on local labor market benchmarks, geographic location, and relevant factors such as experience and skill set. The position is eligible for equity ownership and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Salary ranges (approximate) for Canadian locations are from CAD 179,000 to CAD 228,000 per year.
Work Locations
Employees must reside in or near specified cities in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico where Scribd is able to employ:
- Canada: Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver
- U.S.: Multiple cities including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, etc.
- Mexico: Mexico City
Employee Benefits
- Flexible work model (Scribd Flex)
- Extensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Mental health and disability support
- Paid leave including vacation, sick, holidays, volunteer time, winter break, and sabbaticals
- Parental leave and family support
- Retirement matching and employee equity options
- Professional development and continuous learning opportunities
- Wellness and home office stipends
- Access to Scribd products and enterprise AI tools
