We are an Australian-owned injection moulding manufacturer based in Warriewood, Sydney, specialising in designing, tooling, and producing plastic injection moulded products. Role Overview
We seek a hands-on and experienced Lead Polymer Processing Technician who will take complete ownership of our moulding processes and lead the production team technically.
Responsibilities
- Setting up, optimizing, and documenting injection moulding processes efficiently.
- Troubleshooting complex issues related to moulding and production.
- Enhancing cycle times, product quality, minimising scrap, and ensuring process stability.
- Supporting trials involving moulds, materials, and new products.
- Monitoring and maintaining moulding machinery, moulds, robots, and auxiliary equipment; identifying maintenance needs proactively to avoid disruptions.
- Providing technical guidance, training, and ongoing support to setters and operators.
- Contributing to automation, tooling enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and production performance by collaborating closely with Quality and Production teams to investigate defects, find root causes, and implement corrective measures.
Requirements and Experience
- Proven experience as a Lead Technician, Senior Process Technician, or Injection Moulding Supervisor with strong operational knowledge of injection moulding.
- Hands-on familiarity with engineering and filled polymers along with sound understanding of moulding, material handling, and auxiliary equipment.
- Skilled in mould changes, process setup, and identifying enhancements to improve manufacturing performance.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and comprehend quality standards.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities.
- Preferred qualifications or experience in plastics/polymer fields, robotics or automation, scientific moulding, and working with materials like PA6/PA66, PC, TPU, POM, PP, or recycled polymers.
