Role Overview

We are looking for a Lead Performance Engineer to spearhead performance testing and engineering efforts for large-scale e-commerce and supply chain platforms. This role centers on ensuring optimal speed, scalability, reliability, and overall stability of applications, particularly focusing on microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead performance engineering initiatives covering load, stress, scalability, endurance, and failover testing scenarios.
• Create workload models reflecting user concurrency, transaction rates, traffic trends, and business stipulations.
• Establish performance benchmarks, service-level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and acceptance thresholds.
• Plan, implement, analyze, and communicate performance testing aligned with application release schedules.
• Conduct comprehensive performance tests using JMeter, including developing reusable scripts and frameworks.
• Evaluate microservices and REST APIs for metrics such as response time, throughput, scalability, and consumption of resources.
• Detect performance bottlenecks and perform root cause analysis leading to optimization suggestions.
• Develop and maintain dashboards that monitor application performance, infrastructure health, and observability metrics.
• Collaborate closely with development, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and product teams to mitigate performance risks early in the software development lifecycle.
• Support troubleshooting in production environments, capacity planning, scalability evaluations, and readiness for releases.
• Coordinate with global and offshore teams, sharing expertise on performance testing processes and best practices.
• Advocate for shift-left performance engineering and champion the creation of reusable testing standards and frameworks.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Over 10 years of proven experience in Performance Engineering or Performance Testing roles.
• Extensive hands-on experience with JMeter, particularly for comprehensive performance tests.
• Strong background working with microservices architectures, REST APIs, distributed systems, and high-transaction environments.
• In-depth understanding of load, stress, scalability, endurance, and failover test methodologies.
• Practical knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience in performance monitoring and observability tools and techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.

AI and Modern Engineering Proficiencies

• Familiarity or experience utilizing AI-powered engineering tools like Codex and GitHub Copilot.
• Ability to harness AI tools to enhance test creation, automation, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and overall engineering productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in e-commerce, retail, or supply chain sectors.
• Exposure to platforms with high transaction volumes.
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) techniques, reliability engineering, chaos/failover testing, and architectural scalability design.
• Experience collaborating with international and offshore teams.
• Some familiarity with UI/web portal performance testing is advantageous though the primary focus remains on microservices and API performance.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.Tech or B.E. degree in any specialization.

Compensation

The offered salary ranges between 3,000,000 and 3,250,000 INR annually.
