Lead Gardener

About the Role

Bob Scott Retirement Village in Petone, Wellington, is searching for an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Gardener or Landscaper who is passionate about designing and maintaining exceptional outdoor spaces. This role involves leading a gardening team and working outdoors to nurture and enhance the village's beautiful grounds, ensuring enjoyable environments for residents, their families, and visitors throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to a dedicated small gardening team.
• Perform maintenance and improvements on gardens, lawns, and other landscaped areas to uphold high standards.
• Plan and implement seasonal planting programs and garden upgrades.
• Oversee irrigation system upkeep and encourage effective soil health management.
• Maintain various outdoor features including water elements, bowling green, croquet lawn, and pétanque court.
• Operate gardening machinery and equipment with safety precautions in mind.
• Ensure outdoor pathways, driveways, and surrounding areas remain tidy, safe, and visually attractive.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other village teams and external contractors.
