About the Role
Join HEB Construction, part of VINCI Construction, to contribute to one of New Zealand's most significant civil infrastructure projects—the Picton Infrastructure Redevelopment. This national initiative enhances the marine and transport infrastructure at a key gateway port in Marlborough Sounds. The senior estimator will play a vital role in planning and executing this complex programme involving civil, marine, and infrastructure construction methodologies. The position offers flexibility with either a project-based location or a fly-in-fly-out arrangement within New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate detailed first-principles cost estimates for major marine and civil construction tasks.
- Devise construction methodologies and staging schedules to inform pricing strategies.
- Handle quantity take-offs, subcontractor bids, and supplier negotiations.
- Pinpoint cost drivers, project risks, and potential opportunities.
- Support project planning, procurement processes, and commercial decision-making activities.
- Work closely with engineers, construction managers, and project teams to optimize delivery approaches.
- Track market conditions, cost trends, and productivity to ensure accurate forecasting.
- Contribute to budget forecasting, expense reporting, and project control measures throughout the project's lifecycle.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience estimating large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to marine, waterfront, port, wharf, or coastal infrastructure projects highly advantageous.
- Expertise in first-principles estimating techniques.
- Strong knowledge of temporary works, construction sequencing, staging, and methodologies.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Excellent commercial judgment and risk evaluation skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Qualifications in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent professional industry experience.
