Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Power Business Unit in Chennai. This senior role requires 14 to 20 years of experience in designing and overseeing the execution of electrical substations ranging from LV to EHV within the transmission and distribution sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs that meet quality standards and adhere to project timelines.
- Follow established design workflows to ensure compliance with company quality and project execution requirements.
- Apply Quality Management System (QMS) protocols at all stages of design development.
- Utilize pertinent PTS, utility, and international standards applicable to each project.
- Lead, motivate, and support the design and engineering teams.
- Ensure project deliverables meet or exceed client expectations.
- Maintain proper documentation aligned with the company’s Document Management System.
- Prepare engineering estimates and technical proposals for tender submissions.
- Stay updated on relevant standards, codes, and regulations through continuous learning.
- Coordinate daily operations with other disciplines and functional areas.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical system design for LV, MV, HV, and EHV substations covering base, detail, and IFC design stages.
- Understanding of transmission and distribution operations including coordination with construction contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in preparing equipment layouts such as GIS, switchgear, transformers, capacitor banks, trays, duct banks, tunnel layouts, lighting, shielding, earthing, and AC/DC auxiliary systems.
- Familiarity with international and regional standards including IEC, IEEE, British Standards, Saudi Standards (SASO), and SEC standards.
- Proficiency with design and engineering software like CDEGS, Dialux, Building Designer, MicroStation, and AutoCAD, alongside knowledge of 3D modeling and Document Management Systems.
- Passionate about electrical systems and power environments with leadership skills to mentor team members and manage projects creatively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English for effective presentations and documentation.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Electrical Engineering or any related specialization.
