Role Overview

The Data team at Agoda focuses on empowering data usage company-wide via innovative solutions such as operational and analytical databases, BI tools, and data science technologies. We seek an experienced Data Scientist to contribute to complex machine learning and big data projects handling 600 billion daily events and producing 5 billion predictions. The role involves enhancing customer experience, optimizing supply side value, and delivering impactful business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement machine learning models to enhance customer satisfaction, supplier value, and infrastructure efficiency.
• Analyze vast datasets, including over 600 million user events daily, supplier and pricing data, to extract practical insights for continuous improvements.
• Collaborate with developers and business stakeholders to ensure daily delivery of high-quality results.
• Investigate and utilize novel ideas and approaches to drive innovation.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in data science.
• Strong foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and statistics, with proficiency in related open source libraries and frameworks.
• Advanced skills in SQL and programming languages such as Python, PySpark, and/or Scala.
• Capability to lead projects independently as well as contribute effectively within a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working in diverse, multicultural environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD or Master's in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or other quantitative disciplines.
• Experience with natural language processing, image processing, and recommendation systems.
• Hands-on expertise with big data technologies like Spark and Hadoop.
• Background in data science within e-commerce or online travel agencies.
