Job description
Job Purpose and Environment
The Lead Contracts Engineer operates permanently within a cross-disciplinary contract framework, establishing contract processes and overseeing contract management to ensure alignment with North Oil Company standards. This role includes managing a team of Contract Engineers and mentoring senior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure contractual documents are created and maintained according to company protocols and ethical standards.
- Deliver contracts services that balance quality, cost efficiency, and timeliness for technical departments.
- Contribute to improving the economic outcomes of the company's operations.
Main Activities
- Implement contract practices and procedures in collaboration with partner entities.
- Supervise, mentor, and train contract engineers through on-the-job field training.
- Manage team workload, assignments, and skills development.
- Research and adopt best practices from other entities for contract processes improvement.
- Ensure insurance matters concerning company assets and personnel are properly handled.
- Utilize frame agreements established by shareholders.
- Maintain and update a database of qualified contractors and suppliers for market studies.
- Lead contract strategy validation activities including organizing contract committee meetings, pre-qualifying bidders, defining target prices and evaluation criteria.
- Supervise creation and issuance of commercial documents and calls for tender to contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure all issued technical contracts comply with relevant safety, company norms, and legal requirements.
- Participate and lead complex contract negotiations and analyses of terms and conditions to define party responsibilities clearly.
- Manage contract committee roles, awards validation, and conduct RTA evaluations.
- Coordinate approvals with authorities and partners, oversee contract signatures.
- Engage in resolving claims and lawsuits in collaboration with legal, insurance, financial, and management teams, offering strategic input and negotiation support.
- Monitor ongoing contracts, participate in renewal and amendments discussions, and review supplier performance.
- Ensure all contracts personnel under supervision comply with company norms and codes of conduct.
- Adhere strictly to H3SE policies by actively participating in safety meetings, training, and emergency drills.

Education and Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Science or commercial field, or equivalent
- Advanced certification in Contracts & Procurement tools
Experience
- 8 to 10 years of professional experience post-graduation, including at least 8 years in oil and gas industry
- Minimum 6 years experience within contracts domain, with at least 2 years serving as a Senior Contract Engineer in the company
- Strong skills in management, human relations, problem solving, and coordination
- Advanced level expertise in contracts technical competencies
