Lead C# Developer .Net Core - Fintech

Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead C# Developer / Backend Software Engineer to join a thriving Fintech scale-up in Newcastle. In this hands-on leadership position, you will architect and develop core application logic, APIs, and microservices responsible for data handling, business rule enforcement, and integrating third-party services. You'll also manage secure and reliable server environments' setup and maintenance.

Collaborative Responsibilities

You will engage closely with internal teams and clients to capture requirements through meetings and workshops, influencing product direction and roadmap by providing technical insight and feasibility assessments. Maintaining an active role in architecture and design, you will lead best practices, perform code reviews, mentor teammates, and tackle obstacles collectively to ensure high-quality software delivery.

Working Environment

This full-time position is office-based in Central Newcastle, operating Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with some flexibility. The office boasts excellent city and countryside views with amenities such as onsite showers, supporting employees who commute by foot or bicycle.

Candidate Profile

• Holds at least a 2:1 BSc in Computer Science or a related technical field from a prestigious or Russell Group university, complemented by high A-level results.
• Demonstrates strong leadership abilities in technical settings.
• Experienced in modern C# .Net Core development; Python knowledge is advantageous. Candidates proficient in other object-oriented languages such as C++ or Java may also be considered.
• Possesses a solid understanding of up-to-date software engineering methodologies and comprehensive involvement in the entire software development lifecycle.
• A technical enthusiast who thrives on solving challenges in complex distributed systems.
• Deep grasp of computer science concepts including object-oriented programming, data structures, design patterns, and algorithms.
• Motivated to contribute to and grow within a scaling company, shaping and influencing its technology stack and culture.
