Lead Business Analyst - Data Management & Analytics

About the Role

The Lead Business Analyst for Data Management & Analytics acts as the critical connection between business requirements and data/technology solutions. This role leads the end-to-end business analysis for data-centric initiatives by translating complex business demands into precise requirements documentation, business rules, data specifications, and actionable implementation plans.

Collaborating extensively with stakeholders across business units, data governance, application teams, and technical developers, the role ensures delivery of solutions that meet business goals while maintaining data integrity, governance standards, traceability, and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead requirement gathering and facilitate workshops, walkthroughs, and validation sessions with business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Develop detailed Business Requirement Documents, functional specs, business rules, data requirements, and criteria for acceptance.
• Analyze and optimize business processes by identifying gaps, dependencies, and improvement areas.
• Manage requirement changes assessing their impact on business and data aspects.
• Evaluate source systems, datasets, and data flows to confirm support for business needs.
• Define and document business rules including calculations, validations, thresholds, and reporting needs.
• Translate business rules into data transformation logic and analytical/reporting solutions collaborating with technical teams.
• Validate output data against business criteria and conduct root-cause analysis for discrepancies and quality issues.
• Assist stakeholders in identifying Critical Data Elements and oversee data stewardship, metadata, and business glossaries.
• Align requirements with data governance policies and standards while partnering with governance and data quality teams to resolve issues.
• Lead business analysis activities for analytics, dashboards, management reporting, and BI initiatives, ensuring clarity in KPI/KRI definitions and reporting outputs.
• Serve as the key liaison between business and technical teams, coordinating requirements, risks, and delivery progress.
• Support project documentation, planning, SOP creation, go-live procedures, and post-production validations.
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Solution Architects to validate data integration, ETL/ELT, warehousing, and quality concepts.
• Review technical specifications, data mappings, and participate in solution design discussions.

Qualifications and Skills

• Over 5 years of experience in business analysis related to data management, analytics, or business intelligence.
• Proven expertise in eliciting and managing comprehensive business requirements.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with both business and technical teams.
• Deep understanding of data analysis, quality, integration, and reporting fundamentals.
• Experience in defining business rules, KPIs/KRIs, validation processes, and facilitating UAT.
• Hands-on familiarity with data governance, metadata management, data ownership, and data quality concepts.
• Preferably experienced in financial services or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as National Data Management Office (NDMO) and Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) is a benefit.
• Technical proficiency in SQL and data analysis, understanding of ETL/ELT, data warehouse, lake and lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with BI platforms like Power BI or Tableau and data governance tools including Informatica Axon/EDC is advantageous.
• Ability to distill complex technical and data structures into understandable business language.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven capability to facilitate discussions, lead workshops, and effectively manage multiple initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field is required; relevant professional certifications preferred.
