About the Role
The Lead Advisor for Early Learning serves as the primary coordinator for the rollout of early childhood education initiatives within the region. This position supports transforming policy frameworks into actionable plans, handling aspects such as project management, monitoring, risk assessment, and evaluation to ensure effective implementation across the portfolio.
The role encompasses maintaining oversight over project and work plans aligned with early childhood education, ensuring that strategic objectives are met across various initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the execution of regional early childhood initiatives aligning them with policy directives.
- Support translation of education policies into daily operational activities and project management tasks.
- Oversee planning, risk management, and evaluation processes associated with early learning projects.
- Maintain comprehensive awareness of work plans within the early childhood education portfolio to achieve organizational goals.
Candidate Profile
- Proven leadership skills with experience in uniting teams, mentoring, and fostering a constructive environment that promotes growth and achievement.
- Capability to lead and contribute to regional capacity-building initiatives enhancing both individual and organizational competencies.
- Expertise in developing and executing workplans aligned with organizational strategies, leveraging data analysis to detect trends, opportunities, and risks for informed decision-making.
- Strong systems thinking with an ability to comprehend interconnections across projects and sectors beyond immediate responsibility.
- Solution-oriented with adept strategic and creative thinking abilities, committed to maximizing Māori potential and effecting significant, sustainable transformation.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori, te reo Māori, and an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications.
- Adherence to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct is required.
About the Team
The Education Services Group offers coordinated education services that enhance effective functioning of educational settings to boost student achievement and participation. The group tackles barriers to learning through regulatory support, oversight, and intervention when needed, supporting early learning providers, schools, and kura across the community.
Key priorities include managing practice and guidance to balance national consistency with regional delivery autonomy, providing direct integrated education support, and monitoring provider efficiency and equity compliance.
Additional Information
Salary for this role ranges from NZD 100,296 to NZD 121,490 annually, plus KiwiSaver contributions, and will be based on skills and experience.
