Laundry Attendant

Position Overview

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for operating and overseeing various laundry machinery including washers, dry cleaning units, and dryers. This role involves adding chemicals appropriately, cleaning lint traps, and ensuring garments are cleaned according to standards. Attention is paid to identifying stained or damaged items for repair, spot treatment, rewashing, or disposal. Upon completion of cleaning cycles, items are inspected for cleanliness and sorted onto clean linen carts. Dryers are set based on fabric requirements, and machine filters and traps are regularly maintained. The role also includes folding laundry by hand or machine and keeping meticulous records of items processed.

Job Duties

• Run and monitor laundry and dry cleaning equipment with proper chemical use and maintenance.
• Detect and assess stained or damaged textiles, and decide on repair or disposal.
• Inspect laundered items and organize them appropriately after cleaning.
• Set drying machines according to fabric specifications and ensure lint screens and filters are cleared after loads.
• Fold cleaned items accurately using manual or machine methods.
• Maintain detailed records related to laundering processes.
• Follow all safety and security protocols, reporting incidents and undergoing required training.
• Adhere to company policies on appearance, confidentiality, and asset protection.
• Build positive interpersonal relationships and collaborate effectively within the team.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Inspect tools and machines to identify defects.
• Physically perform tasks involving extended standing, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, reaching, and moving through various environments and surfaces.
• Carry out additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• No educational prerequisites such as a high school diploma or GED are required.
• No prior related work or supervisory experience is necessary.
• No licensing or certification is required to perform this role.
