Job description
Position Overview
The Laundry Assistant is responsible for daily laundry operations ensuring that patient linen needs are addressed in line with applicable regulations, laws, and organizational standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in healthcare settings is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily laundry activities including sorting, collecting, ironing, folding, stacking, hanging, and distributing linens.
- Exercise independent judgment when circumstances require immediate decisions.
- Apply knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations applicable in a post-acute care environment.
- Adhere to and implement departmental goals, policies, and programs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in key competency areas such as patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Maintain professional interactions with coworkers, vendors, and other associates.
- Respect confidentiality for all proprietary and sensitive information.
- Comply with company policies including those relating to harassment and compliance protocols.
- Uphold integrity by following the Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training.
- Assist in patient evacuation as needed.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude toward patients.
- Maintain dependable and consistent attendance.
- Use reasoning skills and sound judgment in daily tasks.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate productively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Physically able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during work hours.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
