Role Overview

The Laundry Aide is responsible for carrying out a variety of laundry-related tasks to ensure residents receive timely and proper laundry services. This role also contributes to maintaining a safe and secure setting for residents, visitors, and staff.

Key Duties

• Sort and separate laundry items according to laundering requirements.
• Operate washing machines, dryers, irons, and sewing machines.
• Hand iron, fold, and hang garments after laundering.
• Carry out basic mending and garment repairs.
• Deliver cleaned garments to designated floors.
• Verify the correct identification of personal clothing items.
• Keep the work area tidy by dusting and cleaning equipment and shelves.
• Manage laundry supplies such as soap, bleach, fabric softener, and thread to ensure adequate stock.
• Clean the workspace thoroughly at the end of each shift.

Requirements

• Experience in a laundry setting is preferable.
• Familiarity with fundamental laundry techniques and practices.
• Completion of at least public school education; Grade 12 diploma is preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal instructions.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $22.80, with placement based on qualifications and experience.
